An IP Made E-Z session was held independently in Li Seng Giap Auditorium, University of Asia and Pacific, Pearl Drive, Ortigas Center, Pasig City last Dec. 8, 2011.
About 80 participants graced the event. There were faculty members and students from UAP, faculty members from Eusebio High School, Santolan High School, San Joaquin Kalawaan High School and Rizal Technological University.
Ms. Moreal Nagarit Camba gave the welcome remarks. She is the chair of the Filipino Department of UAP. Another professor from the same department, Mam Lourdes Bertis, introduced the first speaker, Atty. Dy.
Atty. Mark Robert Dy, creative industries lawyer from Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, discussed the history and nature of copyright. He also focused on the works of Rizal as the Philippines celebrate his 150th year to emphasize the role of copyright in the nation building.
Professor Vivencio Talegon, Jr. from the Filipino Department introduced the second speaker, Ms. Francisco.
Karen Francisco, the only female writer of the Visprint Publishing, shared important tips on crafting interesting reading materials. She also touched on the issue of doing research, be it for academic or creative use. She encouraged everyone to look at TV and Wikipedia as sources of inspiration if one faces a writer's block.
After her talk, an open forum followed.
This session was organized by the Filipino Department of UAP in cooperation with IPOPHL and Visprint Publishing.
