CAVITE YOUNG WRITERS ASSOCIATION or CYWA signs up a memorandum of agreement(MOA) with FILCOLS last 19 December 2011 at the Kapihan sa Meadowoods, Meadowoods Executive Village, Bacoor, Cavite.
CYWA President Karl Ivan Dan Orit invited Beverly Siy to their Christmas Party to give a short talk about FILCOLS and also for the MOA signing.
The MOA states that the members of CYWA automatically becomes regular FILCOLS members and they will receive the benefits of a FILCOLS member such as:
a. assistance in seeking permission from other authors or publishers to use the latter’s works.
b. information on copyright, intellectual property and other related issues.
c. access to contact details of publisher-members.
d. assistance in dealing with publisher-members.
e. Once the First Party starts collecting licensing fees from its licensees, the First Party shall distribute the payments to its members in accordance with the results of the survey of works photocopied during the year.
f. updates about writing or publishing opportunities from other organizations or agencies.
g. Certificate of Membership.
h. assistance in procuring ISBN and Certificate of Copyright Registration from the National Library.
i. assistance in seeking the help or legal advice from the Intellectual Property Office.
j. invitation and free entrance to the First Party’s event.
CYWA is an organization of young writers that upholds the preservation and development of CaviteƱo literature. It recently changed administration. Karl Ivan Dan Orit, a fictionist from University of Santo Tomas and a resident of Bacoor, is now the president.
CYWA is the second organization of writers to sign up with FILCOLS for the automatic membership MOA. Most of its members, officers and advisers are published writers. FILCOLS Member Dr. Efren R. Abueg is one of the founding advisers.
