Memory’s Fictions: The Bienvenido N. Santos Centenary Conference

The Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center of De La Salle University (DLSU) will hold Memory’s Fictions: The Bienvenido N. Santos Centenary Conference on the 20th of March 2012 (Tuesday), 9:00 am-4:20 p.m., at the Waldo Perfecto Seminar Room, SPS Building, DLSU Manila. This conference culminates the year-long birth centennial celebration of the Filipino- American writer whose short story collections (e.g. You Lovely People; Scent of Apples) and novels (e.g. Villa Magdalena; The Volcano; What the Hell for You Left Your Heart in San Francisco) serve as haunting portraits of the Filipino exiles in the US, and of humanity’s struggle to keep faith in a world of tenderness and defeats.

May we invite your faculty members to attend this conference? Please see attached conference program and profiles of the scholars/speakers. There is no registration fee. We regret to say that due to budgetary constraints, the Center would not be able to provide lunch. However, there are decent and affordable eateries located within and outside the campus.

For pre-registration, please submit the name/s of your participant/s and your school to the Center. You may email bnscwc@yahoo.com or call (632) 5244611 local 233 (contact person: May Morales).
