Let us join WASAK author, Norman Wilwayco on March 16, 2012 as his friends will read stories from his book, the 2nd edition of RESPONDE (BlackPen Publishing, 2012). As what is mentioned in the review of Lourd de Veyra, RESPONDE is a collection of short stories in Filipino wherein we will meet the author’s crew of mad, lovable, downtrodden, foulmouthed, alcohol-and-narcotics-fueled misfits. Esteemed fictionist Jun Cruz Reyes-himself an iconoclast of Philippine lit-christened Wilwayco as his rightful successor.

The Freelance Writers’ Guild of the Philippines’ OpenBook program for the month of March begins at 7:30pm.


Guest readers are the following:

• Jun Sabayton, a social satirist, a film/video director, photographer, wanabe film archivist, ex-production designer. He likes Jonas Mekas and a self-centered bastard. “Walang ibang bisyo kundi umibig.”

• Lourd de Veyra, host of Word of the Lourd, the bestselling author of “This is a Crazy Planets”. He is also the frontman of Radioactive Sago Project.

• Jim Libiran, a multi-awarded writer, poet, essayist, documentary filmmaker, activist and television producer and journalist. His first full-length film, “Tribu” was based on a screenplay that won the prestigious Palanca Award for Literature for 2006. His other films like “Happyland” are still showing in different schools all over the country.

With a special performance by the lead singer, Norman Los Añes of the Triangle Trauma Band, wherein they started the advocacy group named Tinta-Aklat-Rekord-Awit or TARA.
