GNN and IPOPHL launch first TV show dedicated to Intellectual Property

January 7, 2011 – Dedicated to discussing ideas and concepts in the ever growing digital age, Mr. Harry Tambuatco, Broadcast Manager of Global News Network (GNN), in cooperation with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), launched the first Intellectual Property (IP) television show on Destiny Cable.

The show entitled “Intellectual Property” is set to tackle local and international issues on Intellectual Property Rights exclusively. It airs Friday nights from 7 to 8 over Destiny Cable’s GNN channel 8.

Mr. Tambuatco said, “The idea behind establishing a TV show dedicated to Intellectual Property Rights is to strengthen awareness in IP issues and give a clearer image of the IP situation in the Philippines.”

He added, “The TV show is a unique project because it will be feature specialists in IP and business. IP plays a vital role in lifting the country’s economy and developing strategies to protect IP.”

The first-of-its-kind show will broadcast interviews with decision makers and cover major IP players and events. The show also aims to provide Filipino viewers with intelligent and credible news reports and analysis.

The show has quickly gained support from major IP organizations, such as the World Intellectual Property Organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, FILCOLS, the Ateneo de Manila Law School and the IP Coalition.
