Call for nominations for the 14th Madrigal-Gonzalez Best First Book Award

The UP Institute of Creative Writing and the Madrigal-Gonzalez Family are making a call for nominees to the 14th Madrigal Gonzalez Best First Book Award. 
The award is given to the best first book by a Filipino writer, and alternates each year between books written in Filipino and in English. This year, the award is open to first books in Filipino published between 2012 and 2013.
The nominated book may be (1) a collection of poems; (2) a collection of short stories; (3) a full-length novel; (4) a collection of plays; (5) a collection of creative nonfiction (literary essays, autobiography, biography, travelogue,newspaper columns, etc.); or (6) a graphic novel or a collection of short graphic stories.
Please note that while we are using the UNESCO definition of a book as a publication of at least 49 pages (cover pages not included) we are opento children’s books that might fall below 49 pages. Similarly, we welcome self-published work. 
However, books that do not fall within the category of creative writing are not eligible.
Nomination Process: Please send, with a cover letter addressed to the 14th MGBFBA BOARD OF JUDGES, five (5) copies of each book you wish to nominate to the UP ICW at the 2nd Floor, Bulwagang Rizal, Faculty Center, UP Diliman, Quezon City.
You may nominate as many books as you wish, provided these were published within the stipulated years, and are known to you to be the first published (creative writing) books by the authors concerned.
Copies of books submitted for consideration will not be returned. One of the copies submitted will be archived at the Gonzalo Gonzalez Reading Room in UP Diliman,which houses Filipino and Asian Writing.
The deadline for submission of nominations is 27 June 2014, 6 pm.
The panel of judges will comprise distinguished award-winning writers chosen by the fellows and associates of the UP Institute of Creative Writing. For inquiries, you may call 922-1830 and look for Mr. Ronnie Amuyot.
