Adarna House, in partnership with the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST), recently released a big book on proper nutrition entitled Walong Baso ni Kuya Paquito, written by Annie PacaƱa-Lumbao and illustrated by Ray Nazarene Sunga.
Kuya Paquito, the main character in the story, is the fastest and smartest among his playmates and consumes eight glasses of water and beverages daily. The book aims to facilitate nutrition education, particularly proper rehydration, among Filipino children.
The Nutrition Big Book on Water was pre-tested for attractiveness, comprehensibility, acceptability and self-involvement among the intended users and experts before production and distribution. The pre-testing was conducted in a daycare center and public pre-school in Bicutan, Taguig City, as well as in a private pre-school and a public daycare center in Bacoor, Cavite. The book will be launched during the 2013 FNRI Seminar Series and will be available at selected National Bookstore branches nationwide.
